Your rights

With the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation as of 25th May 2018, the data subject has been afforded new rights in relation to the protection of their personal information. A brief explanation of these is outlined below.

If you are not happy with any aspect of how we collect and use your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues (www.ico.org.uk). We should be grateful if you would contact us first if you do have a complaint so that we can try to resolve it for you.

The right to rectification

If you believe any of the information we hold about you is inaccurate please contact us and we will aim to correct the information as soon as possible. • We are exercising the right of freedom of expression and information

  • For compliance with a legal obligation for reasons of public interest

  • For archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes

  • For the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims

The right to restriction of processing

You also have a right to restrict our processing of your data where any of the following grounds apply:

  • the accuracy of the personal data is contested by the data subject, for a period enabling the controller to verify the accuracy of the personal data

  • the processing is unlawful and the data subject opposes the erasure of the personal data and requests the restriction of their use instead

  • the controller no longer needs the personal data for the purposes of the processing, but they are required by the data subject for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims

  • the data subject has objected to processing pending the verification whether the legitimate grounds of the controller override those of the data subject

If you would like to cease all communications from Peter Christian, we would recommend you exercise your right to restriction rather than ask us to erase your data, as this will allow us to prevent future mailings if your details are passed to us by an external data pool at a later date.

The right to data portability

You have the right to request the information that we hold on you be supplied to you in a portable format. This will be supplied in a format readable by most standard spreadsheet software and reasonable requests for alternative data formats will be complied with wherever possible.
